Pet Urine Stain Finder Light #Review

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.

While you'd like to think that after you're done potty training that new puppy of yours, there will never be another accident on your floor, you may be sadly mistaken. At least I was when it first happened to me. It's not the norm, nor does it happen often, but accidents do happen, and anything to help make sure they're all cleaned up is better. I'm thrilled to have something as easy to use as the Pet Urine Stain Finder from UV Sight to help me out when I'm trying to eliminate a problem area with the dogs.

This small but powerful UV blacklight flashlight will help you detect all those stains that your pet has left behind that the eye can't see under normal lighting. This flashlight is perfect for everyone who may be training a puppy, or have pets that stay inside during the day while you go to work. It works by reacting with certain chemicals in urine that fluoresce under ultra violet light. The stains will make your carpet light up and therefor make then super easy to spot.

I was excited to try this flashlight, mainly because we've struggled with pet odors since we moved into this house. Our landlord did an awful job cleaning our carpets before we moved in here, and honestly should have just replaced everything, but they didn't. There were a few key spots I knew I needed to check - one being the stairs, and the other being by our upstairs bathroom. This is what I found:

I noticed it picked up a lot of, what looks like, splatter stains. It was both shocking and mystifying. The smell we have encountered since we moved in has been cat, so I suspected spray, but this is after we've lived here for almost three years, and have shampooed the carpets yearly.

I felt like the light did a good job, however there were still new spots where we had an accident with Ocean that the light did not pick up. Maybe her urine does not react well with this type of light? Overall, I feel that for the price of the light (being around $15) it is well worth picking one up and giving it a try if you do struggle with urine smells in your home. I found it especially helpful in tracking down areas that we couldn't pinpoint with our noses alone.
