November Pet Expenses

I've forgotten the past month or two to make this post! This is our families expenses for our two chis for the month of November 2013.

Food: $11; This wasn't needed, but I bought a bag of Stella & Chewy's freeze dried lamb for Venus.

Treats: $0; Would you believe we really had so many treats backed up that we didn't have to buy any this month?!?

Toys: $5; Venus got a cute little purple monkey. It's been a while since she's gotten a new toy, and this one lasted all of ten minutes.

Vet: $0

Other: $34; BarkBox and a new harness for Venus (more on our counterfeit Puppia later...)

Our November total for two chihuahua's was $50. More than usual, but none of it was actually needed lol.

  1. Having pets can be so expensive, but is totally worth it! My little guy is afraid of dogs, but I would love to get him a kitten at some point!

  2. This is really interesting! I've never owned a pet, but my kids want a puppy, so I'll have to keep an eye on this :)

  4. Toys go fast around here, too, although Sunny has been pretty mellow with her latest "baby."

  5. The larger the pet the more expensive they get. My kids keep asking for another puppy. We have two giant breed dogs that are 3 1/2 years old. One is healthy as can be and our only real cost is food, toys and wellness visits. The other costs me minimally $300 per month in medicine and vet visits plus two $5,000 surgeries. Yeah - we aren't getting another dog just yet.

  6. we're in india so prices are a bit different than when we were in the US. but we have a kitten now that we "rescued" from the streets (well community pool) and my kids are quite happy. kitty litter can be expensive here though!

  7. Pet expenses can creep up but I often find it's the "extras" that kill my bank account -- did my dog really need that pink collar. No. But how could I not get it!

  8. Isn't it crazy how the little things add up! Tracking pet expenses like this is a really great idea - I may have to try it myself. Thanks for the inspiration!
